Teaching and support staff at Our Lady of Fatima School receive training in and implement the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) in all classrooms. BSEM is an evidence-informed framework that equips teachers with practical tools to create classroom environments where every student, including those with complex, unmet learning needs, feels safe, engaged, and ready to learn. The BSEM model enables staff to support students’ self-regulation, relationships and wellbeing to increase student engagement and improve academic achievement. Notable features of the BSEM model include consistent and predictable routines, the Morning Circle, Brain Breaks for regulation and rest, Ready to Learn Scales and the development of emotional literacy.
